5/8" Dock Lines

If your boat is on the heavier side, spends more time tied up, or is exposed to more wind or boat wake, 5/8" may be the better option.

3/4" Dock Lines

Our 3/4" dock lines are best suited for larger, heavier boats or more demanding docking situations.

For many applications, this size makes the most sense on boats 35 feet and up, or on especially heavy boats where a larger line is appropriate.

How Long Should My Dock Lines Be?

Once you choose the right diameter, the next question is line length.

A good general rule is:

• Bow and stern lines: about 2/3 of the boat length

• Spring lines: about the full length of the boat

For example:

18–22 Foot Boat

A 15-foot dock line is often a very practical choice for everyday docking.

22–28 Foot Boat

A 15- to 20-foot dock line usually provides good flexibility.

28–35 Foot Boat

A 20- to 25-foot dock line is often a good starting point.

Larger Boats

Longer dock lines are often needed depending on dock layout and how the boat is secured.

In many situations, having a little extra length is much better than coming up short at the dock.

How Many Dock Lines Should I Carry?

For most recreational boats, carrying at least four dock lines is a smart starting point.
