7/16" Floating Anchor Line w/ Stainless Steel Shackle & Thimble

Premium Floating Anchor Line for Recreational Boats Up to 24 Feet

Hot Boat Ropes 7/16" Floating Anchor Lines are built for recreational boaters who want a strong, easy-to-handle anchor line that performs especially well on lakes and inland waterways.

Made from 100% solid-braid polypropylene, our 7/16" rope floats, remains soft and flexible, and is easy to manage when deploying or retrieving your anchor.

With an approximate tensile strength of 2,600 lbs., 7/16" line is an excellent choice for many bowriders, runabouts, fishing boats, ski boats, pontoons, and other recreational boats up to approximately 24 feet.

Why Choose a 7/16" Anchor Line?

The 7/16" diameter gives recreational boaters an excellent balance of strength, flexibility, and easy handling.

It is substantial enough for many common lake boats while remaining comfortable to coil, store, deploy, and retrieve.

7/16" Anchor Line Features

  • 100% solid-braid polypropylene
  • Approximately 2,600 lb tensile strength
  • Recommended for many recreational boats up to approximately 24 ft
  • Floats at or near the water's surface
  • Soft and flexible construction
  • UV-resistant
  • Resistant to rot and mildew
  • Colorfast construction
  • No separate inner core
  • Heavy-duty sewn end construction
  • Multiple X-Box stitch patterns
  • Made in the USA

Built for Lake Boating

Floating anchor line offers several practical advantages for lake boaters.

Because the rope remains at or near the surface, it is easier to see and manage around the boat.

It can also keep more of your anchor rode from settling on muddy, silty, or weedy bottoms when the line goes slack.

That can mean less mess when it is time to pull the anchor.

Floating rope also reduces the chance of loose line sinking beneath the boat toward the propeller.

Proper line management is still essential anytime the engine is running.

Heavy-Duty Sewn Connection

The rope-to-hardware connection is one of the most important parts of an anchor line.

Hot Boat Ropes reinforces the finished end with heavy-duty webbing and multiple X-Box stitch patterns, selected based on line size and intended use.

This creates a strong, clean, ready-to-use connection for the anchor-line hardware.

Use With Chain

We recommend using your anchor line as part of a complete anchor rode:

Boat → 7/16" Floating Anchor Line → Chain → Shackle → Anchor

The chain adds weight near the anchor, helps maintain a lower pulling angle, and provides abrasion resistance where the rode contacts the bottom.

The floating rope provides the majority of the length needed to achieve proper scope.

How Much Anchor Line Do I Need?

The amount of anchor rode you need depends on:

  • Water depth
  • Height of your bow above the water
  • Weather conditions
  • Bottom conditions
  • Available swinging room

A common starting point is approximately 7:1 scope under normal anchoring conditions.

A simple formula is:

Water Depth + Bow Height × 7 = Approximate Rode Needed

For example:

15 ft water depth

3 ft bow height = 18 ft vertical distance

18 × 7 = 126 ft of total rode

For many recreational lake boats, 150 feet of anchor line plus chain provides a very versatile setup.
